Shichi-Go-San is a matsuri or festival that is celebrated in Japan on November 15th. It is a celebration for 3 and 5 year old boys and 3 and 7 year old girls. Families usually bring their children who are this age to temples and pray, wishing the gods will protect them from sickness and misforture.

Children will usually wear their best clothes for the matsuri, most of them would wear kimono. On the day, they will get candies from their parents. These special candies are called 'thousand years candies', which symbolise long life and luck. These candies can be purchased outside the temple.
